Weekend Likes: Halloween Movies

Watching an entertaining, spooky movie on Halloween night can be a fun way to end the season. But I personally like to put more emphasis on keeping it 'fun', I'm not really into super scary, or dark, or evil movies. I like watching a good suspenseful movie, but I also want to end the night still feeling uplifted and like it was an enjoyable experience.

So, with that said, here are a few movies our family likes to watch at Halloween time.

First up, is one for the  kids...Spooky Buddies. I don't remember how we discovered this show, but my kids love it. It's kind of cheesy and obviously not the best acting in the world, but it's a simple little show that my kids enjoy watching and has enough 'scariness' in it to make it a fun Halloween movie without freaking everybody out. And it all ends on a nice note for everyone, so that's a plus.

We are Harry Potter fans at our house, and so of course we think the Harry Potter movies can make for a fun, Halloween night. You could do a costume party around the movie, as well, and have guests come dressed as their favorite movie character. If you are watching with younger kids, I would stick with the first or second film. My personal favorites are the first, second, sixth, and the last film. But really you can't go wrong with any of them.

Finally, this last movie is a classic my mom introduced me to years ago...Wait Until Dark. Audrey Hepburn does a masterful job as the main character. This film has a simple story line and it all takes place in the main character's apartment. It's really well done though and all leads up to a suspenseful ending. If you've never seen this one, you should. :)

Those are a few of my Halloween movie recommendations. Any favorites your family likes to watch?
