June Quotes

I read a lot. I love to read. I like watching movies and listening to music. I enjoy using various forms of media in my life. I like using media to stay informed and to continue learning and educating myself, but I also choose to to use media that uplifts and inspires me. I am always writing down and sharing quotes I see as I use and interact with media, so I had the idea to write down some of my favorites from the month and share them here on my blog. Here are some of my favorite quotes from June:

"It is impossible to win the great prizes of life without running risks, and the greatest of all prizes are those connected with the home."
 --Theodore Roosevelt, An Autobiography

"...godly fear dispels mortal fears. It even subdues the haunting concern that we never can be good enough spiritually and never will measure up to the Lord's requirements and expectations. In truth, we cannot be good enough or measure up relying solely upon our own capacity and performance. Our works and desires alone do not and cannot save us. 'After all we can do' we are made whole and only through the mercy and grace available through the Savior's infinite and eternal atoning sacrifice."
--David A Bednar, "Therefore They Hushed Their Fears", April 2015 General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

"I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special."
--Julia Robert's character Shelby, in the film Steel Magnolias

"Success is contingent upon our effective use of the time given us. When we cease peering backwards into the mists of our path and craning forward into the fog that shrouds the future and simply concentrate upon doing what lies clearly at hand, then we are making the best and happiest use of our time. Success is the ratio of your accomplishments to your capabilities."
--Thomas S. Monson, quoted in his biography To the Rescue

"The Lords works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ would take the slums out of people, and then they would take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature."
--Ezra Taft Benson

“People make bad choices when they’re mad, or scared, or stressed. Throw a little love their way, and you’ll bring out their best.”
–Trolls on Disney’s Frozen
