Note: I shared my testimony in church, and for some reason this story came to me. I wanted to write it down and share it here too. Enjoy! :)
Several weeks ago I took my 4-year-old daughter,
Christabelle, to a ‘Princess Party’ at our local library. At the party the
girls got to make a crown, get a necklace and wand, listen to some fun stories,
and dance and twirl around to a princess song. Christabelle loved it.
At the beginning of the party the library lady had all the
girls sit down on a big rug. She looked at them and asked them if they all knew
they were princesses. They all started nodding their heads and saying yes, when
suddenly one little girl, about 4 or 5 years old, raised her hand and jumped up
exclaiming excitedly and loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, “I am my
dad’s princess!” It was cute.
I have since thought a lot about that simple experience.
That little girl found joy and confidence in knowing who her dad was and what
he thought about her. That is a joy everyone can experience. We are all
princesses (and princes), children of God and a Heavenly Father who loves us,
cares about us, and knows who we are. He guides and directs our lives to help
us grow and come back to Him.
Life is hard. There are challenges and struggles, and many
things we don’t understand. But I know we can still find joy amidst those
challenges, and that joy can come from knowing who we are and believing we are
daughters and sons of God.
I know I am a daughter of God. I know he loves and cares
about me and listens to my prayers. I know because of that knowledge I am able
to find joy in this life.
I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father, who loves me, and I
love Him.
